April 21, 2024, San Pedro Sula – The Asociación Despierta Honduras (ADH) launches the call for applications to its program called Honduran Changemakers. The application period will be open for four weeks until May 19.

It will be the fourth edition of the program that aims to promote the next generation of leaders in the country and turn them into generators of sustainable social change in their respective communities, based on democratic principles. This new generation will be added to the more than 130 people who have already graduated from the Honduran Changemakers program.

Through 16 hybrid workshops (11 virtual and 5 in-person), the selected young people will develop skills in public narrative, power mapping, root cause analysis, resource management and leadership. Additionally, young national professionals with great commitment to the country will teach them about public policies in four major thematic areas: sustainability, economic development, social development and political development. The program will end with the development of a proposal to solve an urgent problem in the eyes of their community. Participants will vote to select the best proposals and will have the opportunity to work on implementing these best proposals on the ground.

Interested persons will have to meet each of the following requirements to be able to apply:

• Be of Honduran nationality.
• Be between 15 and 25 years old.
• Have leadership experiences.
• Have weekends available between June and October 2024 to attend virtual and in-person workshops.
• Live in one of the following cities:
  • Sula Valley Region: San Pedro Sula, Choloma, El Progreso, Villanueva, La Lima and San Manuel.
  • Central District Region: Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela.
  • Comayagua Region: Comayagua, Siguatepeque, La Paz and El Rosario.
